Mobile: GMail on Phone

One of the features some of the higher end / business phones tout is the ability to access your email on the go straight from the phone. If you have a phone from a lower range, the email support on it will most likely be quite weak, and perhaps wont serve anything but the simplest of purposes.

You will be glad to know then that a solution is available from Google themselves! The GMail application for Mobile is a Java mobile application which brings GMail to your Java phone. With the ubiquity of Java even in some of the cheapest phones today, this means that it will run on just about any decent phone. You will need a GPRS connection of course!

Considering the fact that it is a Java application, it is quite powerful, fast and featured. The latest version of the appliaction allows you to access all you mail, even your labels, star or archive messages with simple shortcuts, compose and send email, and even search mail.

If you have multiple GMail accounts, or even a Google Apps mail account under your own or your companies domain name, you can add them all, and switch between accounts.

While the application doesn’t provide the kind of push email facilities available in Blackberry Mobiles Phones, if you don’t mind getting your email up to 10 minutes later, this will surely be sufficient.
